“Dakshinamurthy is an aspect of Shiva as a guru of all types of knowledge and bestower of jnana.
This aspect of Shiva is his personification as the supreme or the ultimate awareness, understanding and knowledge. This form represents Shiva in his aspect as a teacher of yoga, music, and wisdom, and giving exposition on the shastras. He is worshiped as the god of wisdom, complete and rewarding meditation.
The Story of Silence
One story is that he sat with four disciples in front of him. They were
all learned people; they had read all the Vedas and Upanishads and
heard all that was to be heard, but they still couldn’t realize the
truth. So they came to Dakshinamurthy and requested him to explain the
highest Brahman (the unmanifested God). He just sat there in silence.
After a while they got up, bowed down and said, “Swamiji, we have
understood.” And they went away, because only in silence can God be
explained.”

*Words of Wisdom*-Ramana Maharshi
"If the mind is happy, not only the body but the whole world will be happy. So one must find out the way of becoming happy oneself. One cannot do this except by finding out about oneself by Self-Inquiry. To think of reforming the world without doing that is like thinking of covering the whole world with leather to avoid the pain caused by walking on stones and thorns when the much simpler method of wearing leather shoes is available. When by holding an umbrella over your head you can avoid the sun, will it be possible to cover the face of the whole earth by tying a cloth over it to avoid the sun? If a person realizes his position and stays in his own self, things that are to happen will happen. Things that are not to happen will not happen. The shakti that is in the world, is only one. All these troubles arise if we think that we are separate from that shakti.”
(Bhagavan in 'Letters from Sri Ramanasramam' 115)

'WORDS OF WISDOM'
All that we need do is to keep quiet. Peace is our real nature. We spoil it. What is required is that we cease to spoil it. We are not going to create peace anew. There is space in a hall, for instance. We fill up the place with various articles. If we want space, all that we need do is to remove all those articles, and we get space. Similarly if we remove all the rubbish, all the thoughts, from our minds, the peace will become manifest. That which is obstructing the peace has to be removed. Peace is the only reality.
